Evelyn Lee Prouty, aka “Bebe”, 68, of Manteca CA died on July 24, 2014 from natural causes after a long battle with kidney problems. Evelyn was born in Stockton CA on June 28, 1946. She graduated from Manteca High School class of 1964 and continued on to receive a lifetime of wisdom. Evelyn research and author, Manteca; Selective Chapters from Its History,(Available for purchase at the Manteca Museum). She was inducted into Manteca’s Hall of Fame for Community Service in 2010. Evelyn worked as a Reporter/Editor/Journalist/Author/Publisher/Entrepreneur/and Grave Digger. She enjoyed genealogy, gardening, writing, history, and spending time with her family. She was also actively involved in the Manteca Historical Society/Museum, where she served as President for several terms. She was also the first curator of the Manteca museum. She volunteered for numerous activities for the Historical Society and was heavily involved in maintaining and caring for East Union Cemetery in Manteca. She is survived by her life partner Bill Good of Manteca CA, Son Alan Thompson and Cammie Blankenship of Manteca CA, Daughter Kathy (Thompson) Van Steyn and son in law David Van Steyn Sr. of Galt CA, Grandchildren: Chelsea Van Steyn of Galt, Renee Ramirez of Manteca, Jose Ramirez of Galt, as well as other family and friends. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents Richard Lee Prouty and Muriel May (Miller) Prouty and Daughter Kendra Lee Thompson. P.L. Fry & Son is honored to be serving Evelyn’s family. Services will be held Monday August 4, 2014 at 10:00 am at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N. Union Rd, Manteca. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Manteca Historical Society P.O.
