Alex Costa, 88, entered into rest surrounded by his family on July 5, 2017 at his home in Ripon. He was born August 1, 1928 on Highway 120 in Ripon to the late Joe and Alexandrina Costa.
He was proceeded in death by his son, David Costa, parents and siblings Joe Costa, Alice Grasso, Mary Cotta, John Costa and Joaquin Costa.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Costa of Ripon, children Dan Costa and wife Shirley of Ripon, Diane Costa of Ripon and Denise Overweg and husband Steve of Ripon. He has one surviving sibling, Lucy Santos. Alex was blessed with 10 grandchildren- Angie Vescera and husband Clay, Amy Shepherd and husband Luke, Dustin Costa and Tyrae, Brandon Costa, Alexia Rovedatti, Vince Rovedatti, Michael Buie, Makayla Buie, Jacklyn Corley, Steven Overweg, and six great grandchildren - Zoe, Maya, Ella, Anthony, Dominic and Parker.
Alex resided in Ripon his entire life. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a volunteer firefighter for the Ripon Fire Department and 4-H leader. He loved farming. He was known for growing fruits, vegetables and almonds which he sold at his fruit stand on Highway 120. People raved about his sweet white corn and always came back for more. He loved his family dearly. He will be remembered as a loving husband, amazing father and wonderful grandfather.
P.L. Fry is honored to serve the Costa family. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., immediately followed by a rosary, all held at P.L. Fry and Son, 290 North Union Road, Manteca, CA. Mass will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017,
10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 19399
Hwy 120, Ripon, CA.
