Carmel (Mel) Mejia, 62, entered into rest on October 19, 2017 in Palo Alto, Ca. He was born on April 7, 1955 in Stockton, Ca. He was a resident of Lathrop for over 62 years.

Mr. Mejia is survived by his wife of 30 years Maryhelen, children; Lucas Mejia (Vanessa), Vincent Mejia (Ashlee), Katie Mejia, Andrew Mejia (Chela) and Emily Mejia. He was blessed by 9 grandchildren; Ariella, Lillyana, Lucas, Kaylee, McKenzee, Kaleah, Joseph Jr., Jace and Liam. In addition Mel is survived by his two siblings Robert Mejia (Terry) and Phyllis Schellman (Armond).

Mel was in the trucking industry for over 45 years, working for himself, Gary Imhof and Costco. Mel was an avid softball player; playing on Viejitos travel team, Nikkei West and Lodi Big Valley Senior Softball club. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working on vehicles, listening to Oldies and dancing. He loved being surrounded by his family socializing over a backyard BBQ.  He was a huge sports fan enjoying NASCAR, The 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. A supportive father and grandfather, Mel never missed a softball game, cheer competition or dance recital. Mel’s personality always lit up the room; his funny, witty sarcastic attitude drew many friends to know and love him like family. Mel will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and an amazing grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
