Darlene Kay Friedle, 75, entered peacefully into rest on March 17, 2017 in Manteca. She was born on August 13, 1941, in Oakland, California. In heaven she joins her loving husband, Thomas Friedle and parents, Dori and Bud Chappell of Modesto, California and Clyde Peter DeWitt of San Jose, California.

Darlene is survived by her four daughters, Theresa Keller of Portland, OR, Laura Boyer of Ripon, Debbie Ella of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Kelley Smith of Manteca. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and three sisters, Joy Hughes, Annalee Gooby and Valerie Smith.

Darlene grew up in the East Bay and married her first husband and father of her children, Charles Smith, in January, 1960. She was a bookkeeper and enjoyed sewing, crafting and caring for her family. She married Thomas Friedle of Fremont in 2002 and moved to Grass Valley where they enjoyed travel and tranquil mountain living. She moved to Manteca in 2012, after the passing of her husband, to be closer to her daughters. She will be remembered for her loving kindness and fun sense of humor. She will be deeply missed.
