Share Tribute:

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend, Donald Lane Holt. Don passed away at the age of 79 after a brief and devastating illness. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Connie Holt, and their combined family of 7 children which include Laurie, Scott, Tami (Nick), Matthew (Connie) and Tammi (Shawn), Jeannie (Freddie), Tim (Jill) and 21 grandchildren, as well as his former wives and mothers to his children, Barbara and Beatrice.

Don was born the 2nd of 4 children (Marlene, Deanna and Steve) to parents Albert Thomas Holt and Irene Elizabeth Pfenning in Hobart, Oklahoma. He graduated from Consolidated Eight High School in 1956 where he was Class President. He served in the US Navy Squadron 54 from 1958-1962 where he received a medal for good conduct. The Navy took him to Kansas City, San Diego and Japan. He also served two years in the Reserves. During this time in his life, he married and started his family and began work at Systron Donner in Concord, California where he worked for two years. He then began a career with IBM where he worked for 30 years (1965-1995) and met the love of his life, Connie. After taking an early retirement from IBM he accepted a job at Storage Tek in Colorado where he and Connie lived for 9 years.

Raised on a farm, he had a very strong work ethic and a no non-sense approach to life. He spent his retirement years working full time at Lowes in the electrical department where he rarely missed a day of work until he became ill. Throughout his lifetime he had many hobbies including running, biking, Kung Fu, building churches, counseling inmates and photography. However, his recent passion was grapes, grape vines and the art of wine making of which he became very knowledgeable. This was a passion that brought the family together for tastings, movie nights and other fun events. He and Connie spent most of their recent time with the family and the many birthday parties, graduations, holidays, weddings and trips to their favorite spot in Windsor. He will be missed by all including his dogs, Sassie, Faye and Charlie. We will miss his long stories, big hugs and all the fun that was yet to happen.

Services for Don are Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11am at the Christian Worship Center located at 776 Button Avenue, Manteca, CA. A reception will follow at The Urias Home, located at 650 Nancy Drive, Ripon, California.
