Josephine (Joey) Vogel peacefully passed away on August 20th at the age of 93. Joey was born in Yountville, California, on August 9, 1924 to Swiss Immigrants Domenic and Marie Beeler. She was the youngest of four children. Joey grew up in the Napa area, later moving to Sacramento. Graduating with her teaching credential from Chico State in 1949. Joey married her late husband Joseph Vogel in 1952 raising their family in Manteca.  She began teaching in the Manteca Unified School District in 1953. She retired in 1983 after teaching Kindergarten at Yosemite, Calla, and Nile Garden Schools. Joey was very active in many clubs and organizations during her 45 years in Manteca. She belonged to school club organizations, the Manteca Federated Women, Manteca Historical Society, the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club, the Sacramento Swiss Helvetia Verin, and the California Retired Teachers Association. For the last 20 years she has been living in Elk Grove with her daughter Susan and family. Joey loved spending time visiting with her longtime friends, and traveling to many destinations in and around the United States. Her kind, caring, and loving spirit will live on forever through her family and friends.

P.L. Fry and Son is honored to serve the Vogel family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at P.L. Fry and Son. A Rosary/Prayer service will be held at Thursday, August 31, at 11:00am at P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca.
