Penny Lee Okamoto passed away peacefully February 14th, 2017.  She was born July 24, 1946 in Hammond, In.  She moved to Stockton, Ca in 1964 to live with her Grandpa Dewey and attend Delta Junior College.  It was at Delta that she met her future husband, Mike Okamoto.  She moved back to Indiana in the summer of 1966.  Then in November of 1967 she came back out to California to visit Mike and they got married.  Penny was married to her loving husband Mike for 49 years.

Penny & Mike lived in Sacramento from 1967 to 1970 and their eldest son Michael "Mickey" was born in 1968.  They moved to Stockton in 1970 & lived there until 1973.  Their youngest son Edward "Eddie" was born in 1971.  They returned to Sacramento in 1973 before finding their forever home in Lathrop in 1976.

Penny starting with Manteca Unified School District as a volunteer once her youngest son started kindergarten in 1976.  She volunteered for a few years before being hired into a permanent position.  She began at Lathrop Elementary as a yard duty, moved onto being a teachers aide, before becoming the librarian and computer tech.  She retired from Veritas Elementary in Manteca in 2014.  

Penny was actively involved in Cub Scouts from 1976 to 1988 and was Den Mother from 1976 to 1982.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents Chuck & Mel Rosenwinkel of Griffith, In.  She is survived by her husband Mike of Lathrop, sons Mickey of Stockton & Eddie(Kim) of Manteca, brothers Bill(Pat) Rosenwinkel of Dyer, In & Randy Rosenwinkel of Whitehall, Ar and her three grandsons Chris, Matt & Oscar.

Penny will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Memorial Service will be held Friday 2/24 10:30am at P L Fry & Sons, followed by a reception at the MRPS Hall.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her honor to the charity of your choice.
