Billy Lee Shelton

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, Billy Lee Shelton, on June 2, 2022 in Manteca, California.

Billy was born on March 10, 1934 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sue C. Shelton who passed away in 2018. Billy and Sue were blessed with 4 children: Randy Shelton of Manteca, Lois Day of Modesto, Kim Cardoza of Hillsboro, OR and Martin Shelton of Santa Nella. They had 12 grandchildren they adored: Anne, Don, Ken, Crystal, Tiffany, Desiree, Casandra, Dustin, Kristin, Kayla, Samantha, Brieona. They also had 14 great-grandchildren.

Billy proudly served in the United States Army before going on to work as an inspector at the Sharps Army Depot. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, camping and tinkering around with his CB Ham Radio using the call sign “Smokey the Bear.” He was a devoted Scout Master who served over 15 years leading Manteca troop 410.

Billy and Sue were proud to be foster parents to many children during the course of their life. They were also very present in their own children’s lives and were always involved and supportive of them.

Billy will be missed by all who’s lives he touched.

P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the Shelton Family. A viewing will be held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca, California on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 10am to Noon. A Graveside Service will be held at East Union Cemetery at Noon on the same day where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
