Dad lived a long and full life. He did not want to leave. He never gave up the fight, but now he's in no pain and in a much better place and watching over everyone he loved so much. He was a really funny guy, a loving dad who loved with his whole big heart. His love for mom was undying and I believe in spirit they are together again. You may not be around in person but your spirit will live on forever in our hearts. I love and miss you dad. Your oldest son, Ted

It was a very special spring day when great grandpa rode up with uncle steve aunt jessie and cousin taylor to be part of Kaydance's first birthday celebration. We will make sure she knows how much he loved her. It was a blast to watch him bet Boomtown casino at blackjack that same weekend. I laughed so hard when he whispered "I still got it!" as we left with a handful of cash.

He really enjoyed being included in all our activities with our amazing friends who were so kind to him. He loved the boat rides, the camping with a late night campfire, watching the ships at sea with his binoculars when we were at Seacliff, Dinners with family and friends. Getting to see a lot of his family in Reno and Colorado this summer just meant the world to him. I am so thankful that God allowed me the experience of really getting to know dad.

I only met my Uncle Claire twice, both times when I traveled with my mom, his sister, to California to visit my Grandma Barrett. Both Uncle Claire and Aunt Jean made me feel very welcome. But honestly, what I remember most was how interesting it was for me to watch my mom and her brother together. I have 6 brothers and sisters, but my mom was always far away from her brother. It was nice to see them together. My mom has been gone for 16 years, and seeing Uncle Claire on FB, having fun, fishing and spending time with his family, brought my mom and my Grandma a little closer....I will miss seeing his smiling face, I will miss hearing his voice in Jessie's videos. Rest in peace Uncle Claire. I
Love Kathy

Gosh where do I begin? I met Claire when I was first dating Steven and I was a mere 19 years old. He was gruff on the exterior but over the years I got to know a different man and over the past 5 years since Jean's passing Steven and I our family and friends were blessed to get to know and spend each day with one of the best guys ever. I adored the twinkle in his eye and that smile but everyone always loved his giggle. He was ready to go and do anything at a moments notice. He still had the curiosity of a young boy and he made going and doing things with him so special. I cannot thank our friends enough for accepting Claire on all our trips, our Sunday bbq's or game nights. You truely were so special to him and he loved every minute. A special thank you to Jim, Ina, Bob, Cindy, Allison & Paula for loving him and for baiting his hooks, taking him out on your boat, including him in our plans and for visiting him even when we were not with you. Steven and I will miss him and our daily visits so very much. I will forever cherish my nightly kiss good night and the "I love you too" as we parted ways each night. I will forever be grateful for the past years together and will forever love my father in law Claire Barrett. 😘

When I met Claire and Jean 46 years ago They made me a part of the family - Ma B and Pa B. Dad would come home after working at the automotive shop, check on his garden, then sit in his chair in the garage and "chill ". He had the best lawn on Dean Street- dichondra. OMG if you played or stepped on it you were in deep dodo, it was his pride and joy. Dad was vintner before Sonoma County! His Cherry and Peach wines were prime, my mom and dad would look forward to their gifts. Pa B's hugs were filled with so much love. Every time he saw you his eyes would sparkle and he smiled always. I will miss my Pa B, yet I know Ma B has his hand and they are making a great garden of Eden. Hugs, Char

I met my Unc at his home in San Jose in 1983 and then didn't see him again until recently when he came to visit Colorado with his family. He was a strong, proud and intelligent man of another era. Men worked hard, took care of their families and didn't talk about feelings and show emotion much.

That said, we communicated privately these last few years and while I can't say I knew him well, I do know that I felt a special bond with him and I believe he felt it also.

He said I looked like and reminded him of my Mother, his only sister. Knowing I reminded him of her was an honor of the highest order for me. I hope the resemblance and the memory gave him a fraction of the pleasure that his words gave me. You will be missed Uncle Claire.

Although I am a latecomer to the family, I did get to know him a little bit. I thank Claire for accepting me into the family and for his diplomacy, kindness and generosity towards me. I know he loved his wife Jean very much and he has now joined her for all eternity. He will always be in my heart forever. Rest in Peace Dad.

My father did not want any service. His one specific wish was to have his and my mom's ashes spread together at sea near Fort Bragg, California where they spent many long relaxing weekends enjoying the ocean air and the seafood. We will schedule this in some future month, with plenty of lead time, so that as many family and friends that wish to attend can do so.

I will be adding my thoughts about my dad in a couple of days when I am able to do so.
