Clementa Lela Zuniga

Clementa, our dearest aunt whom we all called “Lela” was born on November 23, 1920 in Matamoros, Coach, Mexico. Auntie enjoyed drawing, needlepoint, storytelling and being around her family. She especially enjoyed going over to her nephew Pepe’s home every year to see his manger that he would display for Christmas. She would say, “It reminds me of when my dad would display our manger growing up.”

Lela had 99 years of experiences where she had the most interesting, beautiful stories. Her stories included; her upbringing when she lived in Mexico, Texas and California, stories of how things were than opposed to now. Stories of the bar the Zuniga family once owned in Stockton, stories of old and new acquaintances, stories of how her father first started his manger and stories of the neighborhood and how much it had changed.  

Lela is proceeded by her father and mother Juan and Graciana Zuniga and her brother Ciriaco Zuniga. She is survived by her sister Eustolia Alvarado and many nieces, nephews and extended family members who she loved dearly.
