Doris Jo Thissen, 83, entered into rest on July 7, 2017. She was born October 16, 1933 in Farmersville, Texas to the late Robert and Velma Gordon. In heaven Doris joins her husband Leland Thissen, daughter Teresa “Terry” Thissen Bloom and her brothers, Delavin, Raymond and Dwayne Gordon.   

She leaves behind her children, John Thissen of Manteca, James Thissen of Manteca, Michael Thissen (Pamela) of Manteca, Carol Thissen Corcoran of Stockton and David Thissen (Nicky) of Lemoore, CA. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, Ruben, Hannah, Sarah, Micah, Noah, Jim, Ryan, Carly, Katie, Jennifer, Mark, Jeff, Mark, Scott, David, Doris and Christina. Doris was also blessed with 15 great grandchildren. 

Doris was a resident of Manteca since 1955. She was a faithful member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she worked in the cafeteria as a cook for years. Doris had become an essential part of St. Anthony’s, cooking for the Y.M.I., the Annual Salad Luncheon and many other events.

Doris was extremely talented. She would collect gourds and would paint them into beautiful works of art converting them into jack-o- lanterns for Halloween and Christmas ornaments in winter.

Doris loved her family dearly; she prayed for them daily and continuously demonstrated how much she loved them. She will be remembered as a loving mother and awesome grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. Mass will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 East North Street, Manteca.
