Born on May 2, 1927 in Ft. Worth, Texas, Dorothy L. (Dart) Carpenter entered into rest on January 24, 2018 in French Camp, Ca. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Leslie Carpenter Sr. and her son James Carpenter.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her four sons; Lloyd Carpenter (Anna), Chuck Carpenter (Darla), Mike Carpenter (Debbie), and John Carpenter. After raising her five boys Dorothy and Les adopted a daughter; Rachel Young (Tom). She was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she adored. Dorothy’s family didn’t stop there.  In 1972 Dorothy and Les’ family grew larger, sponsoring two young men from Vietnam; Vinh and Binh Nguyen. This sponsorship led to saving 21 other family members from the ravages of Vietnam.

Dorothy was a 70 year resident of Manteca where she was a member of Central Valley Baptist Church. She was a self-proclaimed entrepreneur and missionary. She was a social butterfly; she loved meeting new people entertaining others with her singing, dancing and playing musical instruments. Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed shopping; thrifting was her most favorite but never refused a day out on the town followed by a great meal. Dorothy’s heart was always in the right place where she continuously helped the less fortunate; offering warm clothes, a place to sleep and rides to church. This helpful heart brought many new people into her life who continued to stay in touch with her throughout the years; affectionately calling her Mom and Grandma. Dorothy will be remembered for her spontaneous attitude, her ambitious spirit and most importantly her devoted love she had for her Lord Jesus Christ.
