Duane Duke

Duane passed away unexpectedly January 23, 2021, in Stockton, California. Duane leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Karen; his daughters, Michelle Aksland of Modesto, California, and Tanya Hall of Louisiana; his mother, Doris Duke of Manteca; his sister, Connie Duke of Fresno, California; and two stepchildren, Lance Wheeler (Lori) of Boise, Idaho and Jill Saberniak (Gene) of Manteca, California. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Duke, and infant son.

Duane was born February 1, 1945 in French Camp, California, and graduated from Manteca High School in 1963. He worked various jobs before his employment at Rough and Ready Island, from which he retired.

Duane became a follower of Jesus Christ as a young husband and began his Christian walk with the Northside Church of Christ in Manteca. For more than 30 years, he has been a faithful, active member of the Lathrop Church of Christ. His favorite hobby was utilizing his computer. Besides helping his wife with her cat-rescue non-profit, Duane was dinner companion, caregiver and chauffer to his mother. Duane was one-of-a-kind in both personality and wit and had a no-nonsense approach to life. He took what life handed him with grace. He will be missed.

It was Duane’s wish that there be no memorial service. There will be a simple graveside service conducted and attended by the family at Park View Cemetery on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is serving the Duke Family.
