Edward Vierra, 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 2, 2020 in Modesto, California. He was born on February 3, 1929 in Lathrop, California. He leaves behind his loving daughters, Constance (Steven) Brimm of  Modesto and Laurie (Mick) Hendrix of Modesto. He was blessed with three grandchildren: Melissa Marley of Riverbank, Ryan (Shawnta) Knepp of Modesto and Michelle (Michael) Hernandez of Modesto. He is survived by his five great grandchildren, Logan, Cole, Devon, Richard, Mickayla and Mariah. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas, John and Peter Vierra.

Edward was a hardworking man, helping on the family dairy almost from birth.  He began working at the age of 15 picking up and delivering milk cans and never stopped. He graduated from Manteca High School where he played football although he was only 145 pounds, he was very fast.  He continued his career as a retail milkman, delivering door-to-door for Cloverleaf/Crystal Milk in Stockton, California.  He delivered to basically the same customer route for over 40 years.  He also enjoyed fishing with his brother-in-law, always sharing his catch, he never enjoyed eating them.  He loved to tend his garden, beautiful roses, camellias and daffodils in the spring despite horrible fits of hay fever.  His trees produced fruit 10x their normal size... lots of fertilizer and watering.   He had an unfiltered sense of humor, oh the things he’d say that you were thinking but would never say aloud. He was a kind, generous man that loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them.

The Family of Edward Vierra would like to thank the staff at Stratford at Beyer Park for the excellent and loving care they provided for the many years Edward made his home there and a big thank you to Community Hospice for the compassionate care they provided in his final year. The family requests any remembrance in lieu of flowers be made to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto CA 95356 or a charity of your choice.
