Tribute

Ardath Eileen Mendosa entered  into rest on June 7, 2020.   She was born on January 21, 1928, in Bucklin, Missouri to Dorothy E.  and Reginald  L. Webber.

Eileen graduated from Osage Grammar School, a small country school.   Due too many moves with her parents, she attended four different high schools.   She moved to Manteca in 1944 and graduated from Manteca High School in 1945.  After moving so many times in her youth, she found Manteca to be the place she loved and where she lived the rest of her life.

Eileen re-met the love of her life, John Mendosa, Jr. whom she had known in high school, when he returned home after serving in the Navy in World War II.   They were married in 1952.   John purchased his father's business, Mendoza’s Men's Wear, in 1957 and Eileen and John worked together in the store until they closed it and retired in 1990.

Eileen remained close to her graduating class of 1945.   She helped with the planning of their yearly meetings and their reunions.   She was co-chairman for four reunions for classes 1943 to 1946 and an active committee member in the planning of the 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013 Manteca Alumni High School Reunions.   She was a past member of the Soroptimist Club and an active member of the BG's Birthday Group for over 20 years.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy E. and Reginald  L. Webber, brother, Lowell  Duane Webber,  sisters, Emily Nygren  and Dema Westfall, and grandson, Bryan Mendosa. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, John, children, Bill (Marlene), Steven, Jack, and Renee.   She was also blessed with five grandsons, Ryan (Kristi), Joshua, Justun, Robert, and John, as well as five great grandchildren, Brendan, Chase, Robert, Taylor, and Lila.

Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to many.   She enjoyed cooking,  following  her children  in high school and college  sports, loved the game of golf, horse racing,  occasional trips to Reno and was an avid fan of Manteca High Football,  the San Francisco  49ers,  Oakland  Raiders,  and San Francisco  Giant's.

In loving memory, donations may be sent to Shriner's Hospital for crippled children, Manteca Historical Museum, or the charity of your choice.
