Janet I. West, 71, entered into rest on May 11, 2017 in Manteca, Ca. She was born in her hometown of Leon, Iowa on July 21, 1945. In heaven she joins her parents; Raymond and MaxineVaughn and her brothers; Richard and Donald Vaughn.

Ms. West is survived by her three daughters; Amy Daniels, Angela (Chris) Barnes and Ashley (Jeff) Durao-West. She was truly blessed by her 7 grandchildren; Allison, Ashlynn, Taylor, Andrew, Alexis, Austin and Asher. In addition, Janet is survived by one brother, Eugene Vaughn.

Janet was a Manteca resident for over 45 years. She was employed by Doctors Hospital of Manteca (DHM) working in various departments over the course of 42 years. Janet loved advocating and mentoring her fellow employees with the union-SEIU as their Shop Steward. She loved her DHM family but was excited to announce her retirement in June. Janet enjoyed antiquing, shopping local yard sales, making flower arrangements and gardening. With a vibrant smile on her face, Janet was always happy and willing to help others. She truly loved her family, friends and community. Traditions were very important to Janet as she always put out an extra special effort in making memories.  She loved capturing pictures with her camera. Janet adored her seven grandchildren; she was extremely proud of their accomplishments as she was honored to witness just about every special occasion, award ceremonies, and sporting events. Janet will be remembered as an amazing mother and Mimi and a very special friend to many. She will be deeply missed. 

P.L. Fry & Son is honored to be serving Janet’s family. A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca, Ca. A service will be held on Wednesday May 17, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery – Lineville, Iowa.
