Jeffra Sue McGowan, a long-time resident of Manteca, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023. Born on November 2, 1954, she is survived by her loving family; mother Rosemary Glassey, her devoted husband, Mike, her children Nathan Smith (Mary) and Kiersten Smith, Rebekah Long (Joe); stepchildren Renee Lamborn, and Chris McGowan; grandchildren Zoey Smith (Bryan), Riley Rankin, Hunter Campbell, Cole Long, Keegan Smith, Jonathan Kenney, Harvey Smith, and Boice Smith; one great-grandchild, LJ Rankin; and two siblings, Mitch Glassey (Grace) and Mike Glassey (Claudia). She is preceded in death by her father Boice Glassey.

Jeffra spent 20 fulfilling years teaching at Lindberg/Manteca Adult School, where she inspired teen moms, teaching them how to care for their infants.  She also co-owned and operated Old McGowan's Feed with her husband Mike for 12 years, from 2008 to 2020.  A hometown favorite for the Manteca community.

A beacon of strength and love, Jeffra found solace in her involvement at Grace Community Church in Lathrop. There, she contributed to the worship team and women's ministry, carrying her profound love for her Lord Jesus Christ deep within her heart.

Beyond her professional and spiritual pursuits, Jeffra enjoyed displaying her creativity and tranquility in her home, garden, and whimsical destinations around the property. Her heart held a special affection for animals of all kinds, and she reveled in the joy of travel, especially to waterside destinations like Pinecrest, Monterey, and Hawaii. She treasured her family most. She enjoyed endless projects with Mike, loving friendships with her kids, and especially the grandkids.

Jeffra's magnetic, peaceful energy drew lifelong connections. She was an empathetic listener, free of judgment, a loyal friend, and someone who loved her family unconditionally. While her physical presence is deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.
