Joan Mertes

Born on January 4, 1944 in San Francisco, Joan Mertes, 74, entered into rest on November 14, 2018 in Modesto, CA. She is preceded in death by her husband Michael Mertes.

Mrs. Mertes is survived by her four children; Robert Mertes (Marissa), John Mertes (Stacy), Isaac Mertes (Gretchen) and Kia Azevedo (James). She was blessed by six grandchildren; Rachel, Jenessa, Tabbatha, Amanda, Ella and Alex and seven great-grandchildren Harmony, Chloe, Elijah, Uriah, Serinity, Harper, Jaxson. In addition, Joan was survived by one sister Gloria Wood.

Joan retired from Manteca Unified School District, Stella Brockman, as a Special Education Teachers Aide. She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Manteca. Joan was an amazing woman who had a huge passion for life, love, her family, and the Lord. She enjoyed staying active by going to yoga and tai chi classes, gardening, and enjoying her friends and family. She had an infectious laugh, was the life of the party, and always knew how to have fun! 

She will be forever missed and cherished by her family and friends!

P.L. Fry & Son is honored to be serving the Mertes family. A Celebration of Life will take place in her honor on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Delicato Winery, Manteca, CA. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Park View Cemetery.
