Born on September 14, 1929, John Machado Azevedo, 92, entered into rest on August 11, 2022 in Manteca. He was a resident of Manteca for 92 years.
John is survived by his wife of 22 years Sherrie Azevedo, stepson Andrew Ryan (Shannon), grandson Garrett Ryan, sister Bernice Seabra as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members who loved him dearly.
A generous man, John was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He proudly served his country through the United States Navy. After receiving his honorable discharge from the military, John went back to his roots of farming. He was legendary in the industry spending 85 years producing watermelons, pumpkins, almonds, hay and vegetables. When not out on the farm, John spent his time hunting around the world where proudly displayed his hunted wildlife. Throughout the years John was a member of many clubs and organizations. He was inducted into the Agriculture Hall of family in 2001 and received Farmer of the Year. All services are being held private.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done
