John Elcy Robinson

April 26, 1942 ~ February 1, 2024 (age 81) 81 Years Old

John Elcy Robinson was born in Gillette, Arkansas on April 26, 1942 to Mattie Ruth (Williams) Hicks and William Robinson Sr. The family moved to Rodeo, California in 1945. John attended John Swett High School and graduated in 1960. John enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country. John was united in Holy Matrimony in 1961 to Mellie Louise Kimbrough; and with this union three children were born. Roman David, Reba Janele and Rian John Robinson. John worked for Safeway for over 30 years and for the Presido Trust several more years. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, hunting, NASCAR and many sports. John was a talker and a storyteller he had a great sense of humor. He was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends. Upon meeting John you were not a stranger. John loved his “Mother” taking many trips to Warren, Ohio to visit her. In 1989, John met and began dating Mary E Rucker who he ultimately married in 1992. From that union he became a Step-father to Tara Rucker and Grandpa to 6 grandchildren. He offered love, guidance, protection and support in a way that only he could. John will be missed for his “smile” kindness, strength and “love.”

God looked around His garden And found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering He knew that you were in pain He knew that you would never Get well on Earth again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered “Peace be thine.”

On Thursday, February 1, 2024 John entered peacefully into eternal rest. To cherish his memories, he leaves his loving wife of 35 years, Mary E Robinson, Four children Roman, Janele (“Mouse”) Rian and Tara; six grandchildren Delon, Devon, Shawn, Andrew ( “AJ”), Jenae, and Ryan (“Lil Ryan”); and six great-grand children, Lili, Iza, Andrea, Jazmine, Tre ((Delon III) and Antonio Jr, three sisters Barbara Winters, Genevieve Flenoury and Cheryl Hicks and one brother Lynn Hicks and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews family and friends.
