Judith Dorothy (MacKenzie) Fitzmorris was born June 19, 1936. She was called home on October 30, 2018; she was 82 when she was reunited with her Son (Douglas), Father, Mother, & Brother.
To finish her journey Judith left behind; sisters Catherine Barbee, Flora Daley, and sister-in-law MaryLou MacKenzie, & a few Cousins. Children; Dorothy L. Fitzmorris, Walter Fitzmorris, Dale Fitzmorris, and Penni (Mark) Kirchner as well as, several nieces and nephews. In addition, Judith leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born in Oakland, CA Attended Elementary school in Vallejo and Oakland, before moving to Lynwood, then moving to Spokane WA for her Senior year. She attended Compton Community College and received a Liberal Arts Bachelor at CSULB. Which lead her to teach in Powerhouse in San Joaquin River, LW McCord in Fresno, Golden West, Lathrop, Lindberg, Nile Garden and Lincoln School in the Manteca Unified School District. She finally retired after 37 years of teaching. In her youth, she was a “Blue bird” and a campfire girl where she found her love for the outdoors. She was a summer camp counselor. Loved spending time with her family. In her family life she was involved in Boys-Scouts, Cookie Chair Girl-Scouts, Rainbow girls, Camping, Running, Bicycling, Hiking, and she was a collector of Gnomes, Frogs, and Big Trees. She Volunteered with CTMS yearly as well as the traditional MacKenzie Christmas in July. Her travels included A Bahamas cruise, with teacher friends, and a cruise to Alaska, trip to Hawaii and an adventure to her Homeland Scotland with her Maternal Family. In retirement, she traveled with her siblings in the “GnomeHome” up and down California and enjoyed making quilts for the Comfort Project in Jamestown. She was a Master Gardener with the Native Plant Society where she affectionately earned the name “Garden Goddess” from family and friends. Additionally, Judith enjoyed painting classes and encouraging the local Playhouse. One of her favorite was; saving quarters for an entire year for her annual trip to Reno.
In her honor a memorial will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. held at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca, Ca. There will be a light dessert reception to follow. For condolences to the family an online guest book is available at www.plfryandson.com
