Lawanda Costa, 85, entered peacefully into rest surrounded by her loving family on September 30, 2017 at her home in Manteca. She was born on September 7, 1932 in Seagraves, Texas to the late Elmer and Lily Chitwood. In heaven she joins her parents, her daughter Darlene Costa her son Richard Costa.

Lawanda leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Everett Costa of Manteca, her children; Carolyn Treadaway (Bruce) of Ripon; Steve Costa (Cindy) of Salida and Paul Costa (Sarah) of Manteca. She was blessed with many grandchildren, Sarah Protz (Steven), Matthew Costa (Brittany), Jessica Watson (Jerry), Clayton Costa (Carla), Jeremy Costa (Barbie), Vanessa Dominguez (Mario), Megan Vincent (Bill), and Tyler Costa. She leaves numerous great grandchildren.        

In addition she leaves six siblings, Gene, Eddie, Betty, Sandra, Roy and Mark  

Lawanda was a Fremont resident before she made home in Manteca. She was a home maker and loved making sure her family was taken care of. She enjoyed spending time out in her garden, watching the humming birds and watching her flowers bloom. She was an amazing artist and was a talented painter. She was a wonderful cook and made the best fried chicken. While with her family Lawanda was  most at peace. She will be remembered as a most loving wife, wonderful mother and amazing grandmother.
