 Leon Lyle Thompson, 85, entered into rest on December 29, 2017 in Stockton, California. He was born on April 10, 1932 to the late Russell Richard and C. Opal Thompson. In Heaven Leon joins his parents and brothers Russell Robert, Harold Hamby Thompson and Niece Rhonda Wise of MO.

Leon leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years Marlene Ann of Manteca, his children; Randall Russell of Livermore, Deborah Denise Moore (Byron) of IL. He was blessed with two grandchildren, Kelli Kristine Moore (Nicholas Cox) of MO, Kerri Kay Tworek (Mackenzie) of IL. Leon is also survived by his brother Donald D. (Jean) and Sister-in-Law Gladys Thompson. Also, Lisa, Scott and Whitney Thompson, Rick, Hannah and Collin Wise all of MO.

Leon was a Manteca resident for 30 years. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952-1956. Leon earned his BSME in 1963 from the University of Missouri school of Engineering. He retired from Lockheed in Sunnyvale, California. Leon contributed many hours of devoted service to the Masons, Boy Scouts of America and the United Methodist Church. He was an award winning and prolific carver and woodworker.

Leon created many lasting memories over the years with his family and friends enjoying golfing, hunting, fishing and camping.

P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the Thompson family. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 910 E. North Street in Manteca on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11am. In the Spring of 2018, Leon will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s United Church, St. Paul’s Scholarship Fund or a charity of your choice.
