Leonilda Nunes

Leonilda Nunes passed away peacefully on April 4, 2018, at Bethany Home in Ripon, CA, at the age of 94. She was born on April 2, 1924 in the Azores to the late Antonio and Maria Serpa. Mrs. Nunes joins her husband of 55 years, the late Manuel Nunes as well as her daughter Olga Borges and siblings Jose Reis, Antonio Reis, Manuel Reis, Humberto Reis, Eduardo Maciel, Maria Baltazar, Delfina Silva, Vivalda Phelps and Olympia Mancebo.

She is survived by her children: Fatima de Melo and her husband Manuel, and Tony Nunes as well as grandchildren: George and Jelene de Melo, Georganne & Alex Galdamez, Elizabeth & Brian Silveira, Leonor & Joe Melo and Anthony & Melissa Borges, Great Grandchildren: Isabella & Katelyn de Melo, Daniel & Amelia Melo and Darren Borges and Seth Silveira as well as sister Leonor Gonsalves of Ripon, CA.
Leonilda also leaves behind many nephews and nieces in California and the Azores.

Mrs. Nunes worked as an assembly line worker for 20 years. She will be greatly missed by all.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 9:00 A.M. at P.L. Fry and Son Chapel with a Rosary at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church located at 505 E. North St., Manteca. Burial will follow mass at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 Carrolton Rd., Escalon.
