Mary Frances Contreras, 82, entered into rest on January 29, 2023, in Manteca, CA. She was born in San Francisco on June 27, 1940.
In heaven, Mary joins her adored husband, Luis Contreras, Jr. She leaves behind her children: Sheri Contreras of Lower Lake; Dawn Contreras of Lathrop; Daniel Contreras (Lynnae) of Vacaville; Jennifer Contreras Bamberger (Gary) of Tracy; and Gabriel Contreras (Bethany) of San Jose. Mary was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Jessica, Ricky, Thomas, Kirsten, Nathaniel, Samantha, Xavier, Rafael, Christian, Logan, and Unique; and five great grandchildren: Mayson, Maia, Marci, Jordan, and Paisley. Mary was a San Francisco native. She married Luis, the love of her life, on May 1, 1964. She worked for Ma Bell, Western Electric, AT&T, and eventually retired from Lucent Technologies. When her children were young, she opened a home daycare business while being a stay-at-home mom. Her house was always full of children, laughter, and joyful noise. She and her beloved husband also coached youth soccer for more than a decade in San Jose.
Mary’s family was her pride and joy. She cherished being a wife of 58 years. Being a mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt made her complete. Mary was genuine, kind, and extremely generous. She was selfless and had a heart of gold. She donated to numerous charities and helped others in their time of need. She believed in paying it forward. Mary had a gift of making everyone feel like family, accepting their differences and everyone for who they were. She was the family’s compass. She was strong, tranquil, very introspective, and at peace in her own space. Mary loved musicals, figuring out a good mystery or suspense thriller, and the San Francisco 49ers. She was a faithful Catholic and held God close to her heart. Mary will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
