Nelia Ascencao Cardoza Corder

Born on March 20, 1955 in Santa Barbara, Terceira, Azores Nelia Cardoza Corder, 63, entered into rest on January 5, 2019 in Manteca, Ca. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Filomena DaRocha and her brother Delmar DaRocha.

Mrs. Corder is survived by her loving family; husband, David Corder, children; Eric Cardoza and Jacqueline Cardoza and her siblings Joe DaRocha and Ana Culbertson.

A devoted wife and mother; Nelia operated her own day care for over 33 years where the children she cared for were like family. Prior to owning her own day care, Nelia worked for the Manteca Unified School District as a bilingual Portuguese aide at Nile Garden School. She was a member of YLI – Young Ladies Institute and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where she was heavily involved with their Religious Education. Nelia was extremely proud of her Portuguese heritage and enjoyed attending Portuguese Festa’s and the bull fights. She loved her daily coffee outings to Bean and Leaf Café, shopping with her sister and enjoyed trips to San Francisco and Monterey Bay with her husband Dave. Nelia will be remembered for her welcoming attitude, her bubbly spirit and her beautiful smile. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

P.L. Fry is honored to be serving the Corder family. A rosary/vigil will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 7p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca, Ca. A Mass will be held on January 18, 2019 at 1pm at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 525 E. North St. Manteca, Ca. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Gospel Center Rescue Center 445 S.
