Richard Romo Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, uncle and friend passed away from a heart attack on March 10, 2020 at home in Manteca, California. He was born on July 19, 1949 in Oakland, California to Dominga and Joe Romo. Richard was married to his loving wife, Cecilia, for 48 years. Together they had two children and raised their family in Newark, California and worked for General Motors for over 18 years. In 1999 he moved to Manteca, California and retired from Simpson Strong-Tie in Stockton, California in 2012. His children: Corrina (Dieter) Rose of Stockton and Richard (Jessica Lopez) Romo, Jr. of Newark, California. He adored his grandchildren:  Marcus Montiel (Mary Torres), Aleeya Rose, Izeyah Romo, Santiago Romo and Monika Moniz. He also was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Zirah Torres, Zelliana Montiel and Darius Montiel. Richard is also survived by his siblings: Mario, Alfred, Sally, Beatrice, Oscar, Frankie, Alfonso and Reuben and many nieces and nephews. Richard is preceded in death by his brothers: Tommy, Rudy and Louie, his nephews: Rueben Souza, Tommy Romo and Jimmy Romero.

In 1968, Richard was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War in the 23rd Infantry Division. He was honorably awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star (First Oak Leaf Cluster) in 1970. Richard was known for being stubborn, hard headed, but had a funny sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family, the outdoors and tending to his yard around his house. Richard was a die hard Oakland Raider fan and loved the Golden State Warriors. He was most proud of his tight knit family and was a true family man who adored his wife, children and grandchildren.

Those that knew him remember his favorite saying from back in the day…

”ASS, GAS OR GRASS, NOBODY RIDES FOR FREE”. Richard “Romo” will be deeply missed.
