Richard Ureste, 67, entered into rest on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by family in Manteca.  He was born on June 18, 1949 in Decoto, California to the late Maria Ureste and he is survived by his father Mauricio C. Ureste of Manteca.

Richard leaves behind his daughters, Jennifer Franco and Brianne Ureste.  He was blessed with two grandchildren, Madison and Noah Burnside.  Richard also leaves behind six siblings, Raul Ureste (Maria), Rosemarie Martinez (Lenocio), Robert Ureste (Teresa), Mauricio Ureste Jr. (Lina), Sandra Ureste, and Jesus Ureste (Deborah).  He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.  He is preceded by death of his brother Raynaldo Ureste.

Richard served his country proudly when he was drafted in the United States Army.  He served between 1969 through 1971, and served one year in Vietnam.  Richard was a Manteca resident but would call the bay area home as he spent 27 years protecting and serving the residence of Alameda County as a Deputy Sheriff with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.  His dedication to the Sheriff's Office was absolute.  His calm mannerism made him essential to his many duties in the Sheriff's Office.  He had a wonderful personality that was transmitted to all.  Richard shared a brotherhood with all deputies and was fortunate to work alongside his brother Jesus Ureste.

After Richard's retirement, he would go on to work as realtor working for ReMax's Realtor in Manteca.  He was then hired by the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office working as a background investigator and CCW permits.

Richard enjoyed traveling to San Antonio, Texas visiting family and attending an annual music festival in San Antonio, Texas.  He also enjoyed traveling using his timeshare.

Richard will be remembered for his relentless spirit and his endless commitment to service.  He will be deeply missed.
