Robert Arthur Conboy, 95, entered into rest on Monday, September 21 just 19 days after his 95 birthday. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 2, 1925 to the late James and Agnes Conboy. In heaven he joins his adored wife of 51 years Jennie Conboy and his son Robert A. Conboy Jr.
Robert leaves behind his children, Sandra Esenwein of Escalon, Karen Matz of NV, Steve Curtis of Stockton, Gary Conboy of Modesto and Janice Grimshaw of WA. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren, Jim Emens of OR, Sheila Emens of Stockton, Larry Emens, Jr. of Modesto, Jeff Emens of Modesto, Robert Matz of NV, Gary Conboy, Jr., Morgan Conboy and Megan Conboy all of TX, Ricky and Ron Conboy of Galt, Robert Conboy III of Az, Christine Conboy of TX, Victor Victorino and Joey Grimshaw of WA and Jeremy Victorino of CA. In addition, he has 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Robert also leaves his sister Rosalie McDade of Rhode Island.
Robert was an Escalon resident. Originally, from Rhode Island he served his country proudly through the United States Maries during WWII. He married the love of his life Jennie in 1947 and together they would move west and make home in Manteca.
Robert retired as a truck driver, but always remained busy even after retirement. He attended St. Anthony’s Church and was a member of Elks Lodge of Tracy and the VFW of Escalon. He enjoyed spending time with family and his bright cheerful personality made everyone feel loved. He always greeted everyone with a cheerful smile or an innocent joke. Family was what he lived for surrounded by the ones he loved made him feel at peace. Robert leaves a legacy of hard work, dedication and honor. He will be remembered as a loving father, special grandfather, brother and friend he will be deeply missed.
