Tribute
Surrounded by his loving family, Robert Haney, 94 entered into rest on May 23, 2023 in Manteca. He was a native of Oklahoma born on January 9, 1929. He is preceded in death by his wife Alyne Haney, parents Benjamin and Lula Haney, siblings George Haney, Ed Haney, Dee Jones, Bertha Pantaleo and Mae Conley.
Mr. Haney is survived by his children, Brenda Atwater, Ed Haney, Lyndon Johnson daughter-in- law who cared for him Windy Johnson, Donald Hyatt and Denise Brown, sister Shirley Ray and his loving companion Norma Richardson. He had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will deeply miss his one on one chats and great advice about life.
Robert was known affectionately by everyone as “Uncle Robert.” He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army where he served two terms. After the military, Robert went into transportation as a truck driver and retired after 35 years. He was a former member of First Baptist and currently attended the Methodist Church of Ripon. Robert was a fantastic cook, and friends and family frequently requested his special fried chicken. He enjoyed watching old westerns and boxing and was a diehard 49er fan. Robert’s idea of a perfect day was out on his boat fishing. Robert was a people person who genuinely cared about others and enjoyed having engaging conversations. He had a reputation for having a flawless work ethic and was a true gentleman with a heart of gold. Robert will be remembered as a good man who was loyal to God, family and country.
P.L. Fry and Son is honored to be serving the Haney family. Viewing will be on Thursday, June 1, 2023 1pm to 5pm followed by a celebration of life on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 1pm both held at P.L. Fry and Son Chapel 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, Ca. He will be laid to rest at a later date at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
