Rogelio E. Sabado
August 1, 1946 - January 24, 2018
Rogelio Eria Sabado, 71, known to family and friends as Roger or Rudy, died peacefully Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Central Valley Hospital in Modesto, CA.
He is preceded in death by his parents Felipe Sabado Sr. and Teodora Eria; his sister Betty; and brother Bartolome.
He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Zenaida Torio Sabado; sons, Glenn and Gerald; daughter, Kristine; daughters-in-law, Frances and Sheryl; grandchildren, Brandon, CJ, Marco, Chanel, Jericho, Aaron and Caden; brothers, Romy, Felipe Jr, Emmanuel, David and Roger; sisters, Glory, Fely, Marlyn and Rebecca.
Born and raised in Pangasinan, Philippines, he attended University of Pangasinan, graduating in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. He met his wife Zenaida in college, who happened to be his seatmate in the nursing program. He and his wife worked at Olongapo City General Hospital as charge nurses for several years. They then took a job opportunity at Farwaniya Hospital in Kuwait in the Middle East, and worked there for more than a decade. The two were just inseparable. In the late 80’s they migrated to the US along with their children, and continued on to work as registered nurses in various hospitals for over two decades.
He was also an avid sportsman. He had competed professionally in bowling and tennis where he won numerous trophies and coached volleyball teams during his younger days. After retirement, he spent his time taking care of his grandchildren, fishing and gardening.
Roger was a lifelong, devout member of the Iglesia ni Cristo. He was a deacon for over 30 years and never failed in his duties. He died an active member of his church and completed his race until the end.
