Shirley J Ries (Trimble) 82 passed October 12, 2018 at her home. A 59 year resident of Manteca, she was born November 12, 1935 in Oklahoma to the late Emmett and Lilly Trimble. As a young girl Shirley and her parents migrated to California for work where they settled in Stockton, there Shirley attended Franklin High School, and worked for Tillie Lewis Foods. In Stockton is where she met a handsome sailor Richard Ries. They married in 1953 and had 2 daughters Vickie Glassey and Rechelle Van Huss, 6 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Richard preceded Shirley in death in 1989. After making their home in Manteca, Shirley went on to own and operate with her daughter, Sunrise Cottage, a board and care facility in Ripon. Shirley had many hobbies and donated her time generously to them, including acting as range master in the 1970’s for the Manteca Gun Club, playing the violin, traveling, oil painting and Tai Chi at the Senior Center. She has enjoyed many of these adventures with her partner of 30 years Chris Salas who was by her side as she passed.

Shirley was greeted at heaven’s gate by her husband of 37 years, Richard. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her including her brother Emmett Don Trimble and his wife Mary and daughters Allison and Lauren, of Anchor Point Alaska and countless extended family.

P.L. Fry & Son is honored to be serving the Ries family. A visitation will be on October 16, 2018 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. held at P.L. Fry & Son 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca, Ca. Services will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca, Ca. She will be laid to rest privately at East Union Cemetery.
