Stanley “Gene” Silver
Gene Silver passed away peacefully in Stockton, CA on June 19, 2022 with his family by his side.He was born June 6, 1940 in Lima, Ohio to the late Stanley M. and Effie E. Silver. He was 82 years of age and was preceded in death by his sister Janet Nickels of Manteca, California.
Gene is survived by his wife Diane of 59 years, daughter Lori Silver, grandson Joshua Silver, sister Jennifer Lee Mankowski of Sylvania, Ohio, brother Robert Silver of Bowling Green,
Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.
He served 3 years in the Army after which he became a merchant marine and sailed on the Great Lakes. After marrying he moved to Manteca, CA and he worked for Libbey-Owens-Ford glass plant in Lathrop, CA, retiring after 30 years. In the 70’s Gene built a 1923 Model T Ford roadster. It was constructed over a 2 year period and consisted of a fiberglass body which Gene custom painted and a 327 cubic inch Chevrolet engine. Gene showed the car throughout
Northern California, winning many awards.
After retirement he enjoyed fishing with grandson Joshua and long time family friend Jeff Brooks who was just like a son to him. He also enjoyed woodworking in which he became a master craftsman.
Gene was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed greatly by all.
