Thomas Sebastian Basile, 84, entered into rest on October 22, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 11, 1936 in Jamestown, NY to the late Joseph and Anne Basile.
Thomas leaves behind his adored wife of 65 years, Marlene Basile of Manteca; his children, Lisa Berg (Jeff) of Discovery Bay, Thomas Basile Jr. (Kelly) of Manteca, Marla Herring (Tom) of Salida and Cindy DeCredico (Jeff) of Danville. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Jonathan McMonagle (Janet), Christopher Howe (Tori), Brandon Howe (Jodie), Gary Basile (Natasha), Tony Basile (Chabre), Tommy Basile (Heather), Thomas Herring Jr., Shantelle Herring (Irene), Timothy Herring, Joey DeCredico, Ava DeCredico and Lily DeCredico. In addition, Thomas was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Summer, Mason, Ace, Emma, Finley, River, Maverick and Meia. He also has two surviving sisters Carol Barnett and Joanne Martinez.
Thomas was a Bay Area native before making his home in Discovery Bay, Ione and finally Manteca for the last 9 years. He retired as Plant Manager for the Safeway Preserve Plant in San Leandro. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing golf. He was an avid Oakland A’s and Oakland Raider’s fan, always cheering them on to victory. Thomas loved his family dearly and his best time was having everyone together. He was a devoted husband and an amazing father. His family was his everything and he was so proud of his children’s every accomplishment. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he would be a special “Papa” to all of them. Thomas will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be deeply missed.
