Born on September 19, 1929, Viola K. Davis, 92, entered into rest on April 22, 2022 in Manteca, Ca. She is preceded in death by her husband Troy (Jim) Davis, her son, John Barandas and siblings Homer Spence, Emma Jane Sanders, Marietta Storck,  Cliff Spence, Bonnie Victor and Bill Spence.

Viola is survived by her loving family; daughters, Bonnie Van de Pol (Gerard), Kathy Mozzetti, step-children, Jamie Fabella, Jerry Davis and Jeanne Gomes, grandchildren, Kristine Mozzetti, Daniel Van de Pol, Stephanie Van Vliet, great-grandchildren Gracie Van de Pol and Jace Van Vliet.

Viola “Gramma Vi”, as she was known to many, was born in Centerview, Missouri.  The family later moved to Manteca and settled on Austin Road.  She attended Castle School and Manteca High School.

She lived in Manteca for 35 years before she settled in Ripon where she would spend the next 47 years.

She worked for Manteca Unified School District for 27 years where she was an administrative assistant at Yosemite School.  She loved her job and everyone there loved her.

Vi was known for her sweet demeanor and loving heart.  She loved to cross stitch, crochet and quilt. After retiring, she picked up the game of golf and was quite good at it.  She fully enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whether it was babysitting or attending all of their sporting events, she was their biggest fan. 

Vi loved to watch sports on TV.  She was an avid Sacramento Kings fan and was happy to be able to attend some games with her grandson.  She enjoyed watching the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. 

Vi will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie and friend.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

P.L. Fry is honored to be serving the Davis family. Burial will be on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 10:00 am at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon, Ca. A memorial will be on the same day at 11:30 am at P.L.
