On Saturday, December 9, 2017, Albert Arieta, "Al", the beloved and cherished husband of Millie Maes Arieta was called home by our Father God, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Al was born November 26, 1934 in Oakland, California to Dominic and Mary Arieta who preceded him in death. He is a former resident of San Lorenzo, Ca., and recently of Arnold, Ca. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Millie Maes Arieta, beloved children Debbie Martinez, Dino Arieta and Karen Martinez. A daughter, Laura Savo preceded him in death. He also leaves his loving sister Kathy Dean of Rio Vista, as well as brothers and sisters in-law, many nieces and nephews and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Louis and Ronald Arieta.

He was dearly loved by Grandchildren, Ricardo Martinez, Liana Ornelas, Sofia Posten, Josiah Martinez, Felicia Hernandez, Danielle Martinez, Selena Arieta, Dominic Arieta, Vicente Arieta, Christopher Satariano, Brandon Satariano and Blaike Savo. Enjoyed by his loving great grandchildren, Serene and Seanna Doria, Alylah Martinez, Prince Hernandez, Lohgan and Mylles Posten, Tyson and Camilla Ornelas, Giovanni Arieta, Henry Martinez and Luke Satariano.

Al retired as a Journeyman Welder in 1996 and became a handyman to whomever needed help. He was a humble man of God and would never take credit for whatever he did, stating only that he did his work for the Glory of God. Al was very involved in several ministries at St. John's Catholic Church in San Lorenzo, and was a member of Our Lady of the Sierras in Arnold. He and Millie enjoyed camping in their 5th wheel traveling to Canada, Alaska and across the United States as far as New Brunswick. They also traveled to several European countries. Al enjoyed fishing the many creeks and lakes he came across, his favorite, Mosquito Lake in Alpine County. His greatest passion was making quality wood toys for needy children in shelters, child protective services and the community. Al's journey through life left footprints of kindness, love, courage and compassion. He had a great sense of humor and was an inspiration to many. Most of all, his faith in God is the greatest gift he leaves us.

There will be a Celebration of Life, January 27, 2018, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 820 S. Main Street, Angels Camp, Ca. at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Contributions can be made in Albert Arieta's name to Community Hospice, 2431 West March Lane, @100, Stockton, Ca. 95207 or the American Cancer Society, 207 Alpine Avenue, Stockton, Ca. 95204.
