Evelyn Lee Prouty

Evelyn was one who loved and lived for history. Her contributions to this cause can not be measured in worldly things, but will be etched in in the memories of time. From her work in the newspaper industry, to her efforts with the Manteca Museum, East Union Cemetary, and beyond, she will be remembered by all.

As many will attest to, Evelyn could tell stories about an almost unlimited array of topics relating to the Manteca area's past. And, as the author of the book called Manteca, in partnership with The Bulletin, where she once worked, she leaves behind a sound collection of stories that enlighten readers on a fair amount of our community's past. The books are available at the Manteca Museum.
.
We look forward to hosting a reception for her family and friends, at the Museum, immediately following her 10am service at P.L. Fry, in Manteca, Monday, August 4th.

Rest in peace, Evelyn Lee Prouty!

Dear Family and Friends of Evelyn,

I am sorry to have read of the loss of your friend. Though words cannot express the thoughts the heart would like to say…Still, may you know that others care and sympathize today..

I like to share with others what helps me to cope with the loss of a loved one..

I find very comforting the words and promises spoken about in God’s word, the Bible. The source of true comfort. Here are the scriptures I like to share.

“Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.”--- John 5:28 & 29

“And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.”--- Acts 24:15

“He will actually swallow up death forever and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces.” ----Isaiah 25: 8 & 9

Sincerely,
Dana

I knew Evelyn since we were both students at French Camp School, she was in my brother's class. I had both her mother and father as teachers and her grandmother as a substitute teacher. My mother had her mother as a gym teacher at Manteca High School. I worked with her at the Manteca Historical Society Museum. We had many long conversations on the phone. The last time I visited with her was about a year ago as we were moving from Manteca. She was a wonderful friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Rest in Peace Evelyn.
